I totally recognize that everyone’s hair is different, and some people tend to have more issues with oil than others. So just to be clear, I’m not saying that what works for me will work for you… But, there are a few good reasons to grab your bottle of dry shampoo every now and then! Believe me, there have been times where I’ve had to wash my hair almost every day… I used to be the biggest offender of the daily wash. Once I stopped, my hair got shinier, my scalp became less dry and my split ends became almost non-existent. Ready to keep reading? I’m sharing my 7 easy tricks to help you prolong a hair wash and still look amazing.
- DRY SHAMPOO
Anything that could save my time that would otherwise be spent washing and blow drying my wild mane is helpful… Since dry shampoo is making women’s busy lives easier, I wash my hair only once (sometimes twice) a week! Some of you might say “Ewwww”…but when you train your hair not to need a daily dose of a shampoo, you’ll be well on your way to the hair you always wanted. Skipping days in between shampooing will actually slow down oil production and leave you with a healthier, more styling-friendly mane. On my really bad hair days I wear a hat or I just put my hair into a straight ponytail. Anyway, my top favourite dry shampoos:

2. SUPER NOURISHING SHAMPOOS & CONDITIONERS
Mostly I buy oil-based nourishing / hydrating shampoos and conditioners. This one is one of my favorites!
Inecto Coconut Shampoo & Conditioner
3.) OILS, OILS, OILS!
After washing my hair, I put few drops (mostly of argan oil) and carefully massage it into my hair ends. I also love to do this every night before going to sleep.
4.) HANDS OFF!
Do you touch your hair a lot? I do. I run my fingers through it at least 147463579 a minute, but still trying not to! The more you touch your hair, the more greasy it will become. So keep your hands off!
5.) Wear a hair bun when you’re at home / while sleeping!
The first thing I do when I come home, I put my hair into a hair bun! I also love to sleep like this, because sleeping in a loose bun prevents your hair from getting messed up during the night. It also helps against tangling and frizziness because your hair isn’t rubbing against a pillowcase all night. Bonus: this adds a little volume to your hair and you wake up with some messy curls in the morning. BUT to protect your hair, use only a classy scrunchie! The 90’s are back! 😉
6.) BREAK UP WITH YOUR BLOWDRYER!
I ALWAYS air dry my hair. Skip the damage caused by heat styling and go with air dry! Yes, it takes a little bit longer but your mane will thank you and during summer you can try the best techniques for air-drying your hair in beachy waves.
7.) MY CURLY HAIR STYLING
A question I get ALL THE TIME: “How you style your hair?” This is how I do my hair almost every time, every week, and it looks great not just on the first day and it’s super easy! Let’s start!
How my hair naturally look like… without any heat, just air dry + with some drops of organ oil…
You need a bigger curling iron (i use the Remington curling iron for extra long hair) + some hair clips!
One of the most effective tricks on how to get your curls to stay is to let the curl cool down and set before letting it go. Take each fresh curl (still keeping the curl shape) and secure it with a clip or a bobby pin. How does this work? Well, as you wrap your hair around the curling iron, heat is transferred onto the hair strands, which is what makes them change their shape. So once your pinned curl is cooled down, it will allow the cuticle to close and set in place, making the curl last for a much longer period of time.
Wait 15-20 minutes… (I usually do my makeup while my hair is cooling down).
And now comes the fun part! Take all your hair clips out, run your fingers through your curles to give your mane a messy look and just spray over with a little bit of hairspray.
